  1. CREATE YOUR DESIGN

If you're an experienced designer, or already have your design created, you can skip reading this. Otherwise...read on. Design your t-shirt artwork in a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator or in a raster program such as Adobe Photoshop. If using Photoshop please make sure your design's actual size is at least 150 dpi.

  2. WHAT KIND OF DESIGNS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

604REPUBLIC, as our tag-line "Gear for Every Geek" suggests is a site that caters to geeks, gamers, and pop-culture enthusiasts, and so we are generally looking for designs that cater to this demographic. You can figure out pretty quickly the type of designs that do well with our customers by looking at what we're already selling.

  3. SUBMIT YOUR DESIGN

Using the handy form on the right hand side of this page, you can submit your design to us for consideration. You MUST submit your design in either .PNG OR .JPG format at 600 pixels WIDE x 550 pixels HIGH, otherwise your design will be rejected. Remember, this is a design competition so presentation counts. You may submit 1 main image and 2 additional images to show off the detail in your design. All submitted images must be 600 pixels WIDE x 550 pixels HIGH.

  4. PRIZES & SCORING

If your design is chosen by us, you will receive either one of $300 USD in cash + $1.00 USD per t-shirt sold on our website for as long as we are selling it OR 10% of the retail sale price of each product bearing your submitted design for as long as we are selling it. You will be paid using Paypal or company check and your $1.00 USD or 10% commission payments will be paid out to you on a quarterly basis.

Scoring on your design will commence for 75 days from the day of your submission being approved and going live on our website. If your design is scored highly by our community and customers and it meets with the approval of the 604REPUBLIC overlords, you have a good chance of having it printed.

  5. REASONS FOR REJECTION...

Here’s a few common reasons why your design can be rejected:

    • IT SUCKS OR DOESN’T FIT IN WITH OUR PRODUCT LINE

We wish we could put it more gently, but let’s face it, not everyone is cut out to be an artist. We work really hard to pick the designs that we think will sell to our customers, we only want to present the designs to our community that we think have a chance of being loved by our customers. This way we sell a crap-load of them and since we share our revenue with our artists we all win in the end!

Your design could have been rejected because the design you submitted is poorly presented in the images you submitted.

Another reason is that your design has NOTHING to do with geekiness, video games or pop-culture. See item # 2 on this page for the type of designs we are looking for.

    • COPYRIGHT ISSUES

We hate lawyers as much as everyone, so we rather not deal with them. If we deem that your design clearly violated copyright it will be rejected immediately. If you’re unsure of whether your design violates copyright, here’s some handy articles to read about Parody law and Fair Use as they relate to copyright: Parody. Fair Use. THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE LEGAL ADVICE.
